I don’t have words right now, and must go to work ~ somehow, eyes red from crying ~ but I just heard the news from a dear friend about the passing of our beloved Dmitri Hvorostovsky. With a broken heart, I add my quiet condolences to those of all of his many, many fans throughout the world. Rest in peace, beloved Maestro. Thank you for all the beauty you have given us. Our lives are richer for your presence. You will always be our Beloved Baritone.
Dear friend, your beautifull hommage is so moving!!

A very sad day indeed for lovers of opera and the beautiful voice of Dimitri. I feel very privileged to have heard him sing live in the Queen of Spades at Covent Garden.

Thanks for your beautiful comment. I got to see him on stage twice: In “War and Peace” with Anna Netrebko in 2002 and in “Don Carlo” with Furuccio Furlanetto in 2014 (I think). Very memorable performances. He was always a magnificent performer with a gorgeous voice. He will be deeply missed.

Ah me. It was his beautiful Pearl Fishers duet with Jonas K that brought us all back into the glorious world of opera. Deeply saddened.

A very sad loss. He was a great artist and fought his illness with the heart of a lion. Thinking of his family with much love and sympathy.
